Wichita Wednesday (Sept 2nd) - Renita Terrell

Wichita Wednesday (Sept 2nd) - Renita Terrell

Tell us about yourself. My name is Renita Terrell. I have been married for 28 years and have 5 daughters, one son-in-law, and one granddaughter! We have lived in the Wichita area for about 30 years. I love working with kids and find coaching very rewarding as I've been a gymnastic coach and soccer coach among other odd jobs. When and why did you start baking/decorating?I have never really been a baker. I made cookies for my husband when we were first married and they were terrible! I have always wanted to make the pretty decorated cookies. Last year, we had a family decorating competition but I didn't love the taste of the cookies so I set out to find a recipe that I would love and didn't have to be in the refrigerator for 4 hours before baking! My daughter and I found the recipe and have been baking ever since!Who has been the most influential person to you when it comes to baking/ decorating? My family has been so supportive and encouraging of me. They have tasted all the samples and have been honest when it wasn't right! My husband encouraged me to bake for others and not just for us. They have all believed in me despite my insecurities. What is one Cake Stuff item you cannot live without?I might have an addiction to your Cookie Cutters!! I pretty much love it all especially the food coloring, stencils, seasonal displays, and boxes! If you could bake/decorate with anyone famous who would it be?I'd like to bake with Julia Child! I think she would make it an adventure and I would learn a ton of new things! As far as a cookie decorator, I would like to bake with Georganne Bell. I adore her creations and I know she would teach me so much!Do you have a local baking business, or do you bake/decorate for fun? Both! I bake for fun as it relaxes me! But I also have a cookie business called 145 Cookies which can be found on Facebook, Instagram at 145_Cookies, and my Square site at https://145-cookies.square.site/
