Wichita Wednesday (Sept. 22nd) - Sara Eck

Tell us a little about yourself. When and why did you start baking?Hey all, I'm Sara Eck. I'm married to my wonderful and supportive husband and I'm a mother of a 2-year-old. During the day, I'm an office assistant at a nonprofit, working with foster families. Nights and weekends or whenever I can find the time, I decorate cakes and cookies. I started decorating cakes in high school but only for family. I took the Wilton class in 2016 and that gave me the skills and confidence to start charging for my work. I was asked to decorate cookies for a Mother's Day church event in May, which was my first official cookie experience, and I fell in love with them! Decorating is my favorite! What is one Cake Stuff item you cannot live without?I cannot live without Cake Stuff's cookie cutters. Oh, and boxes. And sprinkles. And buttercream supplies. And flavors. And gel colors. I just got an airbrush, so now I need those colors too! Basically everything!!!If you could bake/decorate with anyone famous who would it be?I love Marlyn from Montreal Confections. I don't know if she counts as "famous" but she does Facebook tutorials and live cookie decorating every Friday, and think she would be so fun to meet! I want to learn all her tricks!Do you have a local baking business, or do you just bake/decorate for fun?You can find me at @Saras Classic Cakery on Facebook. I do mostly cakes and sugar cookies, but I've also done cake pops, cookie cakes, and hot chocolate bombs. I love working with people to make their occasions perfect.
