Wichita Wednesday (Oct 14th) - Jen Fulgham

Tell us a little about yourself. When and why did you start baking? My name is Jen Fulgham. I'm originally from Iowa but moved here with my husband who is from here and have now been in Wichita for almost 10 years. When I was in middle school, one of my friends dad would let us bake and decorate cakes like we owned a bakery, so I'd say I've always enjoyed doing it. I didn't really get into it as an adult until my first child's first birthday when I was in my early 30's. After that I had a friend ask if I'd make cupcakes for her daughter's birthday and that's where it really started for me. Over the last 10 years, I've watched numerous videos and shows and taught myself all I know. My kids now love watching shows with me and learning and it's become something we all enjoy! I love being challenged and although it can be stressful at times, it's always worth it to see what I can create and see others smile because of it!What is one Cake Stuff item you cannot live without? There are so many items I purchase from Cake Stuff but the one I could not live without, nor can I buy anywhere else, is hands down theCake Stuff Almond Emulsion!!!If you could bake/decorate with anyone famous who would it be?There are so many but I would love to spend one-on-one time learning from Yolanda Gamp from How To Cake It. Her work is so clean and neat and her fondant work is perfection!Do you have a local baking business, or do you just bake/decorate for fun?I really do this because it's satisfying to me to see what I'm capable of doing and also to make something that contributes to someone's special day! I have plenty of friends and family that help support my hobby - I would never be able to do all of this without their trust in me and pushing me outside of my comfort zone! I do have a Facebook page, called JenMarie's Cupcakery, where I post my work if you'd like
