Wichita Wednesday (Dec 16th) - Marissa Stucky

Tell us a little about yourself. When and why did you start baking?I am a trained artist in drawing and painting. I just love creativity and making all kinds of things. I grew up in Wichita, but I now live in Moundridge, KS with my 3 year old son and my husband who is a farmer. My decorating journey began while working as a barista at The Lincoln Perk in Hesston. Learning about my art background, I was asked to help decorate the cookies for the shop. I just loved how each cookie became a little canvas for me to release my own creative expressions. I dedicated myself to embark on a learning path to make the best tasting and most unique cookies I can. What is one baking item you cannot live without?I love Cake Stuff and I am so happy they are involved in the community of makers. I stop in nearly every time I run errands in Wichita and cannot leave the store without picking up several new cookie cutters. They have the best selection! I have a growing addiction for cookie cutters! If you could bake/decorate with anyone famous who would it be?As much as I admire so many famous bakers and decorators, my ultimate project partner would have to be Tom Hanks! Can you just imagine how much fun that would be?! We could decorate Toy Story themed cookies together!Do you have a local baking business, or do you just bake/decorate for fun?I started my little home-based business, Stucky's Cookies, in March of 2020, after spending a few years trying to figure out how I can continue to express my artistry and be able to work from home as a stay-at-home parent. It has been a crazy year to start a business, but I have been so pleased with the support I have received and I love all my customers!
