Wichita Wednesday (July 14th) – Whitney Whetstine
Tell us a little about yourself. When and why did you start baking?
Hello! My name is Whitney Whetstine and I am a mom to 3 kiddos. We live in Derby and absolutely love it here. I started making cake pops by simply searching a treat to bring to work close to 9 years ago now. My mom suggested I start selling them as she is of course my biggest fan. After selling my first dozen I was hooked and haven’t stopped since.
What is one Cake Stuff item you cannot live without?
The Sprinkles hello!? I love the variety and they always have something that I can’t live without. I also love the selection of candy molds. And the glitter selection…have you seen the glitter!?
If you could bake/decorate with anyone famous who would it be?
I think it would be a blast to cook with Sandra Lee or Giada De Laurentiis!!
Do you have a local baking business, or do you just bake/decorate for fun?
I bring my cake pops to life out of my kitchen at home. My Facebook page is Peace, Love & Cake Pops and I make custom cake pops, cake balls cakesicles, and chocolate-covered strawberries. There you can find pictures of cake pops I’ve created and directly message me with any questions you may have and to place orders. I love getting custom orders or duplicating an order someone might see and love it. I am so thankful for all of the support I have received over the years, watching my page grow, and the amount of returning customers trusting me to create sweets for their special events – it’s been such a fun ride and I only plan on getting better with every cake pop!
